Drawing with raw materials:

I initially began the process by creating a series of drawings with raw materials as that is my preferable way of working. I wanted to create a space of expression and safety within my work, looking at mental spaces in which I produce work in. Each drawing was inspired by various lines of songs and poems that I have written. I also began to take inspiration from drawings that I have already completed as a means of expressing certain emotions.

It was through these sheets of drawings that I decided to create a zine for my multiple, expanding that safe mental space to encompass those who interacted with my work in an enclosed structure.

The next step within this process was so begin working digitally as I concluded that this would be the fastest way of producing the number that I wanted to. Having never worked digitally before, I felt that the best way for me to replicate the drawings would be to scan them in and trance, ensuring that they did not lose the mark of my creative process. I struggled with the technology of this for a while and in order to get somewhat ahead I ended up redrawing the majority without the scans.
